Tipperary teacher ’s kindness and generosity left a lasting legacy on his family, students and friends

Mr Wallace, of Ardmayle East, Cashel, Tipperary, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 6. He served with distinction as a teacher and went above and beyond the call of duty in all aspects of school life, said a spokesperson in a tribute to their colleague.“It is with profound sadness that the Loreto Clonmel community mourns the passing of Mr Conor Wallace,” announced the school on Thursday. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Wallace family, his friends, and all who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time.”The late Conor Wallace. Mr Wallace joined the Loreto Clonmel in 2018 and quickly became a deeply valued colleague, respected teacher, and loyal friend to many within the school community. “As a teacher of history and geography at both Junior and Senior Cycle, he brought tremendous passion, enthusiasm, and dedication to his work each day.“Conor had a remarkable ability to engage his students through his knowledge, humour, and warmth. His wit and good nature endeared him to students and staff alike, while his care and commitment helped countless young people to grow in confidence and achieve their potential. He took immense pride in supporting and encouraging those in his care, always giving generously of his time and energy.“Outside the classroom, Conor played a huge role in school life. Whether coaching football and camogie teams, assisting with school events, or simply offering support wherever it was needed, he was dependable, adaptable, and selfless in all that he did. His natural leadership and ability to bring people together created many treasured memories for both students and colleagues.“One of Conor’s proudest achievements was guiding our Certified Angus team to national success. It perfectly reflected two things he cared deeply about, his love of farming and his passion for helping his students discover opportunities and talents beyond the classroom. Through this work, he inspired students to believe in themselves and to embrace every opportunity presented to them.“Conor’s kindness, humour, generosity, and friendship left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever fondly remembered by all in Loreto Clonmel.”A past pupil of the Loreto wrote: “Deepest condolences to the Wallace family on the sad passing of Mr Wallace. He was an amazing teacher in Loreto. I have fond memories from his history and geography classes which were was always most enjoyable and full of laughter. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.”Another former student said: “My heartfelt condolences to Mr Wallace’s family and friends. I had the privilege of being taught by Mr Wallace throughout my six years in secondary school. He was a kind, passionate and dedicated teacher who always wanted the very best for his students. He brightened our Ag Science classes with his humour and warmth. He will be fondly remembered by all, may he rest in peace.”Mr Wallace was a brother of the late John. He is mourned by his parents Mick and Kaye, sisters Helen, Bríd and Linda, brothers-in-law Liam, Neal and Shane, nephews and nieces Katie, Ellie, Conor, Ronan, Aidan, Michael, Páidí, Jim, Seán and Maryann, uncles, aunts, cousins, neighbours and his wide circle of friends.Conor’s remains will be reposing at Devitt’s Funeral Home on Friday evening, May 8, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. The requiem mass will take place on Saturday, May 9, in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Boherlahan at 3pm, with burial afterwards in Ardmayle Cemetery.
