Man pleads guilty to trespassing at Sligo restaurant and stealing alcohol and a mobile phone

Stock image. A 41 year old man has pleaded guilty to trespassing at a restaurant and stealing alcohol and a mobile phone. Ciaran Carney (41) of no fixed abode appeared before Judge Keenan Johnson at Sligo Circuit Court. The defendant pleaded guilty to trespassing at Poppadom Restaurant, O’Connell Street and taking alcohol valued at €100 and a mobile phone and also holding a black Xiuomi Redmi phone knowing it was stolen on February 16, 2025. Mr Eoin McGovern BL instructed by Mr Ciaran White, solicitor told Judge Johnson that his client had serious addiction issues and asked for a probation report to be prepared on Carney. Judge Johnson adjourned the case to July 14, and directed a probation report and a governer’s report for the defendant. He also directed that a urine analysis be conducted on a fortnightly basis.
