Keir Starmer hits back at ‘furious’ Donald Trump as US-UK relationship left damaged

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has hit back at President Donald Trump and defended his decision not to support the US during the war with Iran.

On Wednesday, Starmer was asked if his relationship with a “furious” Trump was left “in tatters” following the president’s consistent attacks.

Prime Minister Starmer refused to divulge on his and Trump’s relationship but asserted he acted in the “British national interest”.

Starmer’s remarks follow two separate social media posts about the “ceasefire” between the US and Iran that reopened the Strait of Hormuz.

“I welcome the ceasefire agreement reached overnight, which will bring a moment of relief to the region and the world,” Starmer wrote.

“Together with our partners we must do all we can to support and sustain this ceasefire, turn it into a lasting agreement and re-open the Strait of Hormuz.”
