A Nigerian Army general and several soldiers have been killed in an overnight jihadist attack on a military base in northeastern Nigeria, highlighting a surge in militant violence targeting security forces.
In a statement, the military described the attackers as “terrorists,” the term it uses for Islamic militant groups. This happened amid wider violence across northern Nigeria, with at least 90 civilians killed in recent days by jihadists and armed gangs.
