At least two tankers approaching the Strait of Hormuz have been turned around since the US began blockading Iranian ports after ceasefire talks between Washington and Tehran collapsed.
The Iranian regime controls eight major ports and several oil facilities in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
The White House insists its blockade will not impede cargo ships that do not enter or leave an Iranian port or pass through the strait by taking an Iranian-administered route.
