Iran ceasefire at risk: Strikes hit Gulf states amid Strait of Hormuz dispute

The US-Iranian ceasefire is under extreme pressure after Donald Trump ordered the US Navy to try to guide stranded ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran threatened any vessel trying to pass and both the UAE and Oman said they'd been targeted by missiles and drones.

The Americans claim Navy destroyers and two US flagged merchant ships did get through.

But the Iranians denied that and said they had fired on a US warship, which the Americans denied.

The military escalation sent oil prices up five per cent so far.
