These Brothers Are Fighting Famine As Israel Starves Palestinians in Gaza

This is the story of how two Palestinian brothers living a world apart – Mahmoud in northern Gaza and Hani al-Madhoun in Virginia — are fighting against Israel’s forced starvation in northern Gaza.

When Israel separated Mahmoud from his family, stripping him down to his underwear alongside hundreds of other Palestinians, he never imagined seeing his loved ones again.

For Mahmoud, whose family roots run deep in Beit Lahia, surviving only strengthened his determination to serve his community. He set out to fight against Israel’s forced starvation, with the help of his brother Hani al-Madhoun. Together, they started a soup kitchen that’s now feeding hundreds of people.

It’s a daily risk that requires the collective effort of his entire family, volunteers on the ground and a global community.
