Lord Of Hatred continues the Mephisto storyline from the previous expansion and has you travel to the new region of Skovos which is the birthplace of humanity and the homeland of the Amazons, there’s a new main city hub called Temis, new biomes to explore as well as new dungeons and strongholds.
Two new classes were added to the game in the form of the Paladin and Warlock, the Horadric cube makes a return from Diablo 2 and is basically a crafting bench that allows you to add, remove or reroll affixes as well as upgrade rarities.
Set bonuses have returned but rather than traditional set gear it’s done through the new Talisman and charm system where you slot charms into a talisman, you’ve got 2 piece, 3 piece and 5 piece bonuses with some of these set bonuses having a massive impact to your build as you’ll see later in the video.
When it comes to endgame the level cap was increased from 60-70, torment tiers have been expanded from 4-12, there’s been a big skill tree overhaul for every class with passives being removed and there being more visual and functional customization per skill.
The structure of Endgame has changed with the addition of Warplans, where you’ll build a chain of 4-5 activities then get bonus rewards upon completion, whilst you’re doing this though you’ll also get activity specific experience which levels up the activity specific talent tree which allows you to further customize your experience, so you’ve basically got talent trees for helltides, the pit, nightmare dungeons and every end game activity now.
A new feature called “echoing hatred” was added to the game which is a rare escalating challenge event triggered by a special drop, basically survive as long as you can as difficulty scales and get rewards based on how long you last.
Aside from that new bosses were added to the game, there was a lair boss key rework, an overhaul to itemization, unique items were reworked and now roll from a bigger affix pool and can now also be tempered, and aspects also went thorough some rebalancing, they finally added a loot filter to the game as well as a map overlay which I remember asking for all the way back at launch and Fishing was added to the game as a casual side activity.

So that’s a general overview for the new Lord Of Hatred expansion but as someone who hasn’t played for a few years there’s gonna be even more stuff that I’ve never experienced from the previous expansion so thanks to Blizzard for sponsoring this video and let’s begin with my first impressions of Diablo 4 in 2026.
