Full Pentagon briefing on Iran: US military breaks down operation

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine briefed reporters at the Pentagon on Monday. Caine said the US war against Iran would not consist of a “single, overnight operation” and added that more US casualties should be expected.

“This is not a single, overnight operation,” Caine said. “The military objectives that CENTCOM and the Joint Force have been tasked with will take some time to achieve, and in some cases, will be difficult and gritty work.”

“We expect to take additional losses, and as always, we will work to minimize US losses,” the general added. Four American servicemembers have been killed since the US and Israel struck targets inside Iran over the weekend.
