Donald Trump told reporters Iran didn't want a nuclear weapon, Tehran wanted to strike a deal with him and they had sent him a "very significant gift" - without specifying what the present was.
But as US correspondent Mark Stone points out, Iran said it didn't want a nuclear bomb several weeks ago, and yet it was still attacked by the US and Israel.
And while the US president was talking about peace deals, the Pentagon is preparing thousands of soldiers from the US Army's elite 82nd Airborne Division for deployment to the Middle East, according to US media reports.
