EXCLUSIVE | Gerry Hutch on Kinahan arrest and Dublin by-election
Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch will return to Ireland from Lanzarote in the coming days to formally register as a candidate in the Dublin Central by-election, telling the Irish Independent “the race is on”.
The crime figure (63), who narrowly lost out on a seat in the same constituency in the last general election, has also spoken for the first time about the recent arrest of his arch rival Daniel Kinahan in Dubai, saying that “karma” has caught up with the leader of the international crime syndicate.
He said he was “letting bygones be bygones” in terms of animosity with Kinahan, after 18 lives were lost in the long-running Hutch-Kinahan feud – the majority of fatalities impacting the Hutch side.
“There has to be other ways. You can’t take an eye for an eye, we’d all end up blind,” he said in relation to the feud.
