Iran has appointed Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr as the new chief of its Supreme National Security Council, replacing Ali Larijani. A former IRGC commander and brigadier general, Zolghadr has held key roles in Iran’s military, judiciary, and strategic institutions. He previously served as deputy chief of the armed forces general staff and led IRGC educational and irregular warfare units. Born in 1954 near Shiraz, he studied economics at the University of Tehran. His family also holds influential positions in Iran’s administration and diplomacy.
