Iran War: Stocks Rally, Oil Swings As US Weighs End to War | The Opening Trade 3/31/2026

Stocks rallied and oil held steady after the Wall Street Journal reported that President Donald Trump had signalled he was willing to end the US military campaign against Iran.

Earlier an Iranian drone hit a fully laden Kuwaiti oil tanker off Dubai, in one of the most significant attacks on a vessel in a month of war.

The war has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, choking off supplies of crude, natural gas and products such as diesel to global markets.
