Tamil Nadu Elections: TVK Chief Vijay To Move Court? Governor Asks TVK For Proof Of Majority

Tamil Nadu Governor RV Arlekar has insisted actor Vijay - whose Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam swept to a near-perfect debut win in last month's election - must provide a letter confirming the support of 118 legislators before forming the next government.

Sources told a news channel that Arkelar believes the TVK - despite the big win - doesn't have the numbers.

Vijay was called to the governor's residence Thursday morning and asked a series of questions, including how he might run a government with only 113 MLAs (i.e., his 108 and the Congress' five) and which other parties might back him. He was also asked about future partners; the TVK has indicated it expects six seats from two Left parties and two regional outfits.
