President Trump is turning up the pressure on Asian and NATO allies to send warships to end the de facto Iranian blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. In a recent interview he said “If there’s no response or if it’s a negative response, I think it will be very bad for the future of NATO.” Trump also suggested China should send warships to help secure the gulf. As fears rise about the global economic fallout from the war in Iran and its stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz, what choices are US allies left with?
