The price of oil has hit $108, rising more than 4% today after reports of the attacks on energy infrastructure in the Gulf.
Iran's South Pars gas field and associated infrastructure have come under attack today, Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency has reported.
South Pars is the largest natural gas field in the world and is shared with Qatar, where it is known as North Field.
Qatar issued a harsh rebuke today, saying Israel's targeting of petrochemical facilities in the area was a dangerous and irresponsible step.
The attack comes after the US bombed military facilities on the small Iranian Gulf island of Kharg last week, which is the centre of the country's oil industry.
